Acupuncture Basics

1. What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the insertion of ultra-fine, single use, sterilised needles into specific points on the body.

2. How does it work?

There is a life force that permeates all of the cells that make up the human body. This life force, or energy field, is called Qi in traditional Asian medicine and it is the basis of our well-being and health. If the bodies Qi is not flowing efficiently or if the Qi is deficient, it will lead to disharmony, pain and disease. The insertion of the needles below the surface of the skin activates the circulation of this energy, and thus facilitates the bodies return to its natural state of well-being.

3. What is a typical session like?

An acupuncture session is usually performed while the patient is lying comfortably on a massage table. It’s similar to a typical spa treatment where the lights are dimmed and soft music is played to facilitate a relaxing atmosphere. In most cases, on insertion of the needles, a slight tingling or numbing sensation can be felt, but it’s not uncommon for people to feel nothing at all. After the needles are place the practitioner may slightly manipulate the needles to elicit a stronger sensation and enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. After this, the patient is encouraged to allow the body and mind to enter the meditative state, where the healing benefits are optimised.

4. What are the benefits of it?

Acupuncture is most famous for alleviating all types pain. But it has also been proven to both enhance the Immune system and down-regulate the Sympathetic Nervous system. Which means it can be an effective treatment for any condition that is either caused or exacerbated by stress. The list is a long one, and includes many of the most common medical conditions.

5. Are there any insider tips about acupuncture that a beginner should know?

Improvements in well-being will continue for hours and even days after the session is over, and this effect can be compounded with subsequent sessions. So, for this reason, it’s recommended to follow up with 5 or more sessions before deciding if Acupuncture is right for you.

Forgiveness

We have all found ourselves confronted by someone who has caused us pain and suffering or we simply go through a very difficult period in our life but very few understand why this happens.

In a word…Karma.

There are different names for karma but whether you believe it or not, it does exist, both good and bad.

What is karma? often you will hear “what you reap you sow”, “what comes around goes around”,”For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”. What does it all  mean?

For me, I have understood it to be an awareness of why we’re here and to learn from our past mistakes in this and previous lifetimes.

We need to be willing to take a step back from the situation and evaluate until there is an understanding without anger. Once this happens, we begin to learn why something has happened to then be able to move on. If we don’t learn and forgive, we will go through the same lesson until the cycle is complete (evaluate, forgive and learn).

What the Health

Just watched the documentary What the Health and was shocked by how much I was affected by the content.

I had watched other documentaries that did create a need to change but not enough to make the change.

What an amazing man Kip Andersen, taking the risk to produce this documentary to expose those who corrupt the health industry.

Although, I wasn’t surprised by the various associations (Diabetes, Heart) that are funded by drug companies, meat and other industries.

Racing Through Life

We spend our days racing through life as if we are running around in a cloud of illusion.

What does this mean?

We are working so hard, missing time with our family and friends, just to have the latest of everything. Material possessions have become so important that we have forgotten the true value of life. We are no longer grateful for the small things (having a meaningful chat with a stranger, going out of our way to make someones day, sunshine, a smile, kindness).

It appears most people are searching for happiness by looking outward rather than within. How can we understand that the excitement of purchasing a material possession is not long lived therefore we need to keep buying more to keep that feeling.

It seems like a lifetime ago but I was in that rat race of wanting more and thankfully I suffered financially which meant I would learn the greatest lesson of all and I’m so grateful.

We are chasing that rush, the adrenaline, the excitement a false reality. If we simply looked within for happiness we would certainly reduce the need to buy the latest technology, must have the latest clothes, buying fancy cars and that new home with all the latest furniture.

I live with my wonderful Husband in our humble home, drive a simple car and buy second hand clothes and I’m probably the happiest I have been in all my life.

And lets not forget the health and beauty industry make alot money from people needing health supplements, joining the latest gyms, cosmetic treatments, makeup, weightloss trends, visits to the beautician etc.

I could touch on the topic of self esteem but will probably write about that in another post…stay tuned.

There are many ways to learn how to stay within and not look outward for happiness but regression and hypnosis therapy are a very useful tools and I would highly recommend.

Take the time to connect and spend some time on your own.
